Bailes Honored for CSAB National Accreditation Board Service

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) JOHNSON CITY, Tenn., Aug. 14 -- East Tennessee State University issued the following news: Dr. Don Bailes, a faculty member in the East Tennessee State University Department of Computing, has been recognized by the Computing Science Accreditation Board (CSAB) with one of four awards for those who provide continuing service as team chairs five times beyond their original five years of service as Computing Accreditation Commission team chairs.

CSAB was inaugurated in the mid-1980s to provide an accrediting body for programs in computer science and related disciplines. The organization merged its accreditation activities with those of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in 2000, making CSAB the leading society for accreditation of programs in computer science, information systems, information technology and software engineering.

Bailes became involved during the first year the organization began offering accreditation. He has served as a two-term president of the organization, program evaluator, team chair and member and chair of the executive committee of the board of CSAB.

All undergraduate programs offered by the Department of Computing are accredited by ABET.
