Digicel Fiji launches Superfast 4G network [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mobile operator Digicel Fiji has formally announced the launch of its 'Superfast 4G' data network as part of its recent FJD70 million (USD38 million) 3G/4G investment programme announced last month. Initially, the 4G service is available in the greater Suva area, Nadi including Denarau Island and the wider Lautoka area. The cellco has also confirmed that rollout continues on its existing network infrastructure to deliver nationwide 3G+ (HSPA) coverage. The 4G launch was confirmed by CEO Darren McLean at the firm's headquarters in Suva last week. Digicel Fiji has also introduced a range of 4G-ready smartphones, with prices starting from FJD299.00, and is offering wireless data network access for as little as FJD1.49 for 300MB – or a seven-day pass for FJD5.99 (800MB cap).
