Logen Thiran joins ARA as President and Chief Executive Officer


BELTSVILLE, Md. --(Business Wire)--

ARA, Inc. has named Logen Thiran President and Chief Executive Officer effective August 4. Former CEO Mr. Pradeep Wahi will remain the Chairman of the Board while Logen Thiran will assume the President and Chief Executive Officer role.

Thiran brings a broad range of technical, management and customer engagement experience in the federal government as well as the commercial and international sectors.

Chairman of the Board, Mr. Wahi, announced that he is setting a new and aggressive course for Antenna Research (ARA). Supplying antennas and RF products for over 51 years, ARA will leverage its expanding product base, R&D initiatives and subsystem integration expertise to align with the rapidly growing demand for RF solutions in both domestic and international markets. "I am excited about Mr. Thiran joining our leadership team," said Mr. Wahi. "His innovative, entrepreneurial mindset and wealth of experience in leading and managing technology businesses make him the ideal executive to bring ARA's innovative capabilities to critical markets and customers, and grow the company." Mr. Wahi, leader of ARA since 1989, believes that ARA is uniquely positioned to expand its presence in the RF arena. I believe ARA is poised to lead the way in maximizing the capabilities of the RF front end."



Thiran most recently served as the President of the ICAS (Intelligence, Communications, and Avionics Solutions) business unit within DRS Technologies, where he was responsible for more than 500 employees and $200M of business. "After founding start-up technology companies and leading large technology businesses for fortune 500 companies, I'm looking forward to using my knowledge of small and large business practices to drive ARA's growth," said Thiran. "ARA is a remarkably diverse company rich in science and engineering talent. I am honored to work alongside its team of innovators to help our customers create the future." Thiran received both a Masters & Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He also received a Master of Business Administration from Duke University. He also serves on the ARA Board of Directors.

As a component of ARA's growth strategy, Thiran has named Mike Schwarm to lead the Business Development and Sales group as Vice President. "I have worked with Mike for several years and have tremendous respect for his domain knowledge, entrepreneurial drive and customer focus," Thiran said. Schwarm has held business and engineering leadership positions for several defense and commercial companies including Lockheed Martin (News - Alert), BAE Systems, DRS Technologies and Lucent Technologies. Schwarm has extensive experience in growing businesses and delivering complex products and solutions. In his most recent assignments he has developed opportunities and delivered several ISR, Communications and EW products and systems to US Government and international customers. Schwarm has a Master's of Science in Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut.
