Sage chief executive Berruyer in line for a £6m leaving package

(City A.M. (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) GUY BERRUYER, the boss of top software developer Sage Group, could land a £6m leaving package when he steps down in November.

Berruyer has amassed £2.7m in shares since joining Britain's only FTSE 100-listed software firm in 1997. He could also be awarded a further £3m from the executive bonus plan, if the company reaches all its performance targets.

Berruyer, who took the helm in October 2010, has been overseeing the company's tough transition from providing software installed on computers to selling cloud-based services to customers.

News of his departure, announced in May, came as a shock to analysts who expected the Frenchman to stay at until 2015, when his growth targets come to fruition.

He said at time: "Life is about making choices, and at 63 years old I still have many things I want to ach-ieve besides my executive career." Former Mico Focus boss Stephen Kelly will succeed him in November.
