HP to Address How "Thinking Like a Bad Guy" Can Improve Security at HP Protect 2014; Annual user conference set to bring together 1,500 security professionals to share insights on disrupting the adversary and mitigating risk


(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP today announced the lineup of keynote speakers and technically focused breakout sessions for its annual enterprise security user conference, HP Protect 2014 , taking place Sept. 8-11 in Washington, D.C.



HP Protect 2014 will bring together nearly 1,500 security professionals to network, collaborate and share intelligence around disrupting the adversary and mitigating risk. In addition to keynote presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to select from nearly 150 technical breakout sessions led by HP executives and industry experts to gain insight into the latest trends in application, information, network and payment security.

HP Protect 2014 general session and federal executive track At the general session on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. ET, HP and industry experts will discuss the latest trends in security software and the most serious vulnerabilities and threats facing the industry. Speakers will include: - Art Gilliland, senior vice president and general manager, Enterprise Security Products, HP, will draw from more than 15 years of experience in the enterprise security industry to discuss what it means to "think like a bad guy," as well as which attacks are having the most impact across the industry today.


- Brian Krebs, an investigative reporter and author of KrebsonSecurity.com, is a recognized authority on cybersecurity. A reporter for The Washington Post from 1995 to 2009, he is known for breaking stories about high-profile security breaches, including those at Neiman Marcus and Target.

- Kevin Poulsen, award-winning journalist, contributing editor at WIRED magazine and author of Kingpin--How One Hacker Took Over the Billion Dollar Cyber Crime Underground, is credited with breaking news of the arrest of U.S. service member Chelsea Manning for leaking hundreds of thousands of documents to WikiLeaks.

HP Protect 2014 will also offer a Federal Executive Track on Wednesday, Sept. 10, designed for management-level government employees to address highly specific cybersecurity needs across policy, technology and procurement. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear from former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Sal Giunta, recipient of the United States' highest military decoration--The Medal of Honor--for his heroic actions during combat in Afghanistan.
