Cambrian Innovation Appoints Technology Operations Veteran to Accelerate Growth

BOSTON --(Business Wire)--

Cambrian Innovation, a water and bioenergy technology provider, today announced Randy Ziffer has been named chief operating officer. Ziffer brings more than 30 years of experience in general management, supply chain management and manufacturing to support Cambrian's rapid customer growth and expansion into new markets.

"Cambrian has seen strong commercial traction deploying advanced environmental solutions using biotechnology, and we continue to expand with new products, markets and customers," said Cambrian Innovation CEO Matthew Silver. "Randy's technical operations and international management experience is hard to match, and will be instrumental in helping Cambrian build global operations which save energy and reduce water costs for customers of all sizes."

Prior to joining Cambrian Innovation, Ziffer worked for a range of companies from venture capital backed start-ups to Fortune 100 businesses. He has established operations in Asia, Europe and the U.S. Ziffer was most recently Sr. Vice President of Operations at Columbia Tech where he led manufacturing and distribution operations for large capital equipment projects of similar complexity to Cambrian Innovation's flagship product, the EcoVolt. Previously, Ziffer was founder and president of Mack Technologies, a contract manufacturing business that he grew to $312 million in sales inthree years. Before that, Ziffer launched Sun Microsystems' (News - Alert) first offshore manufacturing plant in Scotland, growing it to over $1 billion in shipments in four years.

"Biotechnology has long promised to deliver incredible advances in water management and energy," said Ziffer. "Cambrian's technology delivers on that promise with proven applications that deliver impressive environmental benefits and financial returns from the start. I'm thrilled to join such an innovative team and look forward to bringing Cambrian's technology to scale."

Cambrian Innovation is the first to employ bioelectric technology to not only cost-effectively clean wastewater but also generate significant clean energy. The company's flagship product EcoVolt has been deployed at industrial facilities and can reduce biological oxygen demand by up to 90 percent, while generating more than 50 percent of facilities' electricity needs. Treated water can later be reused on-site, dramatically reducing freshwater requirements and enabling water-intensive businesses to grow.
