Fairfax Chamber Statement on Board of Supervisors' Decision of ESI Landfill Application

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TYSONS CORNER, Va., July 29 -- The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce issued the following news release: On July 29, The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors failed to approve EnviroSolutions, Inc.'s ("ESI") compromise proposal to extend the operations at the Lorton Construction and Demolition Debris ("CDD") Landfill until 2025.

Jim Corcoran, president & CEO of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce (Fairfax Chamber) (http://www.fairfaxchamber.org/) today issued the following statement: "The Fairfax Chamber is disappointed with the decision by the Board of Supervisors to deny ESI's amended compromise proposal.

By striking down this proposal, we fear that developers will see rising construction costs, which could eventually be passed on to real estate owners and tenants--and ultimately customers and clients.

This compromise could have helped to advance the County's goals of enhancing sustainability initiatives by meeting long-term recycling goals for construction materials and supporting LEED attainment for new construction.

This represents a missed opportunity by the Board to further grow and develop the county." [Category: Business] CC AutoTriage10PkS-140801-30TacordaCheng-4817282 30TacordaCheng (c) 2014 Targeted News Service
