Third appoints new director [The Orange County Register :: ](Orange County Register (CA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 31--LAGUNA WOODS -- John Luebbe was appointed by the Third Mutual board of directors Tuesday to fill the seat of Director Jim Juhan, who resigned. Luebbe, a resident since 2010, was endorsed by seven of the 10 directors in attendance. His term will end in October 2015. Also vying for the seat were Kim Shirley, who received three votes, and William Kelly. In his three-minute statement, Luebbe said he believes there should be a balance between maintaining and improving the community. "If we don't improve our community it will eventually lag behind in attractiveness, and our property values will decrease." Luebbe also advocated controlled spending and strong oversight on projects presented by the managing agent. Luebbe, a Montana native, is active in the Laguna Woods Bridge Club, Men's Golf Club, Bicycle Club, Baby Boomers and New York Club.
