France : CCSA and ETSI extend coordination on ICT standards [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The China Communications Standards Association (CCSA) and ETSI, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), extending a relationship established 10 years ago. This renewal enables CCSA and ETSI to share information on their work in order to contribute to the development of globally-aligned standards for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT).

The renewed agreement was signed during the Global Standards Collaboration meeting taking place in Sophia Antipolis, an annual gathering of senior representatives of the world's leading ICT standards organizations. CCSA and ETSI have many common areas of work. Both are partners in 3GPP, the Third Generation Partnership Project, developing 3G and 4G LTE mobile standards. In addition, both are founding partners in oneM2M, the global standards initiative for Machine to Machine Communications and Internet of Things. This new agreement ensures alignment between the two organizations on technical areas with a global impact, such as Critical Communications and Network and Information Security. In addition industry participating in one organization will be able to access standards-related information from the other organization through the communication channels established by this agreement, helping to reduce technical barriers to market entry.

Zemin Yang, CCSA Secretary-General, said Faced with the challenges of the converged ICT era, CCSA has seen the global collaboration of standardization organizations becoming more important than ever. CCSA highly values the long lasting partnership with ETSI. After more than 10 years of successful collaboration which brought benefits to both parties and to the international community, with the renewal of the MoU with ETSI I am expecting more value for both my country and the world in terms of the development of ICT standards. ETSI's Director-General, Luis Jorge Romero, remarked, "ETSI is committed to collaboration with standardization organizations across the world. CCSA is unquestionably one of our long-standing partners with whom we have worked very effectively in the past. I am therefore delighted by the renewal of the MoU with CCSA and I am confident that this collaboration will lead to many benefits for the development of ICT standards with worldwide impact." The China Communications Standards Association (CCSA) is the national communications standards organization of China. Its membership consists of more than 300 vendors, carriers, internet service providers, and academia, both domestic and multinational in the information and communication field. The number of subscribers and the market shares served by CCSA s members take a significant part of the whole of the world.
