ABA Applauds House Passage of Cybersecurity Bills

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON, July 28 -- The American Bankers Association issued the following statement by Frank Keating, ABA President and CEO: "We commend the House for passing four cybersecurity related bills today, and in particular bipartisan legislation (H.R. 3696) sponsored by Homeland Security Committee Chairman McCaul (R-Texas) and Ranking Member Thompson (D-Miss.).

"This bill, the National Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection Act (NCCIP), would strengthen existing mechanisms that help the financial sector identify threats, respond to cyber attacks and coordinate with our partners in the federal government. NCCIP and the other bills passed by the House today are another good step forward on the road to enactment of strong cybersecurity legislation.

"We call on the Senate to move forward on cybersecurity legislation, especially the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act sponsored by Senators Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Chambliss (R-Ga.)."
