PeerApp to Present New Video and Content Delivery Approach for Monetizing OTT at CableLab's Summer Conference

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEWTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/29/14 -- PeerApp, the leader in Internet content caching infrastructure, will present at this week's CableLab's Summer Conference on a panel about how over-the-top (OTT) content can be delivered most effectively with the highest quality.

Panel: David Sokolic, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, Tom Gonder, Time Warner Cable, and Bob Lund, CableLabs What: All IP Super-Session - This session will highlight new developments in four key areas of the All-IP video service delivery chain: 1) Software video encoding and virtualization; 2) optimized caching within content delivery networks; 3) efficient delivery of adaptive-bitrate video via IP multicast; and 4) HTML5 adaptive video delivery and content protection.

PeerApp will be presenting on Open Content Delivery. The ongoing convergence of broadband and television and the associated migration of content consumption away from linear PayTV towards an any-time, any-screen, any-content model creates a number of challenges for cable operators. One is around customer Quality of Experience (QoE), another is around participation in Internet service delivery. Both are needed to capitalize on DOCSIS® 3.0 investments and address revenue loss from 'cord cutters'. PeerApp's market-leading open caching solutions help operators to significantly improve Quality of Experience for their subscribers across a broad set of Internet content, services and applications. With these solutions as the foundation, PeerApp is pioneering an open approach to collaborative end-end content distribution that also creates an opportunity to monetize OTT content delivery by adding value to the process.

Where: CableLab's Summer Conference, Keystone Conference Center, Keystone, Colorado CableLabs Summer Conference is a private conference, hosted for registered cable operators and demonstrating vendors.

When: Monday, August 4, 2014, 3:45PM At CableLab's 2014 Winter Conference, PeerApp successfully demonstrated its implementation of the Content Service Extension (CSE) architecture in cooperation with intelligent broadband solutions provider Sandvine and global CDN service provider Limelight Networks, Inc. (Limelight). CSE enables network operators to monetize OTT content and service delivery and improves subscriber quality of experience. The CSE service architecture allows CDNs and content service providers to extend their business logic and delivery footprint deeply into operator networks, through invocation of network functions and capabilities deployed and controlled by the operator.

The demonstration featured managed delivery of 4K Video content from Limelight's global CDN footprint into the home, triggering operator caching and network QoS extension services in a trusted and controlled fashion. The operator-side implementation of the CSE service architecture included PeerApp's UltraBand cache and CSE controller platforms as well as Sandvine's Service Delivery Engine (SDE).
