New HR manager to focus on growing staff's skills development [Evening Gazette (UK)]

(Evening Gazette (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) FALCK Safety Services, the survival and health and safety training company, has appointed a HR manager to oversee the development of the company's UK personnel.

Nick Hobdey will manage all HR activities and processes for the company's 125 staff across its three training centres in Haverton Hill on Teesside, Aberdeen and its additional facilities in Peterhead and Montrose.

Falck, which offers training services including fire, technical, maritime and renewables was first launched in Teesside in 1994.

It has continued to grow globally with 30 training centres in 19 countries worldwide.

The firm recently invested more than Pounds 3.5m in its UK facilities, including new man-riding crane equipment, crisis management and fire and wind energy safety training capabilities.

Based at the Teesside facility, Mr Hobdey brings more than 15 years of experience to the firm, previously working in various HR positions in both the public and private sector.

He will focus on the skills development for the growing Falck workforce and drive professionalism and effi-ciency in internal processes, improving the customer experience and supporting future growth.

He said: "I am extremely pleased to be joining such an ambitious, forward-thinking company that has a strong reputation in the UK and worldwide." Managing Director at Falck, Colin Leyden, said: "Nick's appointment is important as we continue the growth of our already extensive UK range of safety services." The company has also brought in new training on Teesside ahead of major safety legislation for all offshore workers travelling in helicopters.

From January, passengers will not be allowed to sit on the inside seats of a helicopter travelling to and from offshore installations without an Emergency Breathing System (EBS), under new legislation from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
