B-Mobile rebranded Progresif Cellular following takeover [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Brunei-based mobile operator B-Mobile Communications has been acquired by investment firm Darussalam Assets for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition was effective as of 1 July 2014, and the cellco has already been rebranded as Progresif Cellular. According to local website BruDirect.com, Darussalam Assets was established by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to manage the government's investments in affiliate companies. Previously, B-Mobile had been under government executive management since February 2013, after running into financial difficulties. *Speaking at a press conference, Awang Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Ibrahim, the chairman of Progresif Cellular, commented: 'We have every intention to turn this operation around and make Progresif Cellular a successful mobile operator in Brunei. A sound technical infrastructure is the backbone of all our operations and our team has looked for optimum ways to improve our network without compromising on existing services. This is a gradual process, and the last thing I would want to do is to mislead our customers into thinking that drastic improvements will be immediate'.
