FCC Announces Stolen Mobile Device Working Group

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON, July 24 -- The Competitive Carriers Association issued the following news release: Today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) announced the members of the Technological Advisory Council's Working Group on Mobile Device Theft Prevention. Brad Blanken, CCA's Vice President of Industry Development, was named to the group, along with CCA members Les Gray, COO, Recipero; Gary Jones, Senior Director and Head of Technical Standards Policy, T-Mobile; and Kirthika Parmeswaran, Principal Solutions Architect, Ericsson.

In a statement, CCA President & CEO Steven K. Berry said, "I thank the Commission for their work on this important consumer issue and am very pleased that CCA and our members will be actively involved in the discussion. Mobile device theft is an industry-wide concern - negatively affecting carriers, manufacturers, distributors, consumers, and more - and this criminal activity unfortunately has been a growing problem in the U.S. The Commission, with the help of its newly constituted working group, is right to address this issue to ensure better protection of consumers and the industry, and CCA and our members stand ready to help find solutions to put a stop to mobile device theft."
