Bahamas : IP SOLUTIONS to invest BSD40M in infrastructure following acquisition approval [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) If the government approves its acquisition by Limitless Mobile Holdings, Bahamas-based operator IP Solutions International (IPSI) has planned to invest BSD40 million (USD39.79 million) in infrastructure over the next two years.

Limitless aspires to become the second mobile network operator in Bahamas and will rival with the current favourite, Digicel, for the permit when the government starts the auction process.

The company's deal to acquire an 80% stake in IPSI has won approval from the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) but must also be approved by the cabinet through the National Economic Council (NEC).

Before rolling out infrastructure in New Providence and Abaco, IPSI secured its operating licence in October 2009 and WiMAX spectrum in January 2010, and is looking to boost the WiMAX network's capacity to ensure the 'seamless delivery' voice, data and video services.

The operator will embark upon an 'aggressive' plan, featuring a 'full launch' and a complete re-branding, following the acquisition.
