New Version of HOB MacGate Allows for Improved Remote Access to Mac Computers

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. --(Business Wire)--

HOB, one of the market leaders in secure remote access solutions, announced the launch of the new version of HOB MacGate, a software that provides users with a flexible and highly secure remote access solution to Mac computers. The updated version of HOB MacGate offers several new features without compromising security. HOB MacGate now enables secure remote access to Mac devices from a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux or Mac OS X.

When implementing a successful teleworking strategy, IT administrators meet the challenge of providing employees with a method to securely access their office computer at any time, from any place, and from any mobile device. As the popularity of Mac OS X devices increases, companies must allow their employees to remotely access Mac computers in order to reap the benefits of increased productivity and streamlined workflow.

Currently, several of the existing remote access solutions for Mac are VNC (Virtual Network Computing) solutions. They show ofen a slower performance than those which use the RDP protocol. HOB MacGate is based on the RDP protocol which allows for a more productive workflow than VNC solutions. Especially in the area of compression, VNC solutions frequently result in imperfect or slow data transmission.

"VNC solutions only allow users to execute tasks in halves, resulting in significant drawbacks when it comes to remote access," explains Klaus Brandstätter, CEO of HOB. "This might be adequate for remote maintenance, but for everyday business operations, an efficient working environment should be the top priority for managers and employees."

With the new version of HOB MacGate, users can easily access their Mac computers via an RDP connection and benefit from the advantages the RDP protocol offers them, regardless of the operating system the connection is established from. HOB MacGate is centrally installed on the target Mac. A connection from the remote computer can be made over the internet or within the local area network without any installation or admin rights.

Highlights of HOB MacGate include flexible printing options for central or local printing, access to every possible Mac application, as well as copy and paste of text and graphics in both directions. In order to protect the privacy of users, the "Hidden Screen Mode" offers different display preferences for users to select. The screen of the central Mac can be switched off, deactivated, or turned on. With this feature, the ability for colleagues to view a session remains at the discretion of the remote user.

The new HOB MacGate is adjusted to the current needs and preferences of users and adapted to ongoing market developments. Explaining the reasons behind this update, Klaus Brandstätter said, "In order to remain competitive, companies need state-of-the art, highly innovative software solutions which optimally support business processes. We at HOB are continuously developing and updating our products to suit the needs of our customers."
