Space exoskeleton system (wp2012 avionics and mechatronics platform for internal iss robotics applications (exoskeleton) sd3--human hand exoskeleton) [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Tenders are invited for: Space exoskeleton system (wp2012 avionics and mechatronics platform for internal iss robotics applications (exoskeleton) sd3--human hand exoskeleton) Development of a robust and minimum footprint computer platform and motor control electronics for robotic control applications inside the ISS environment. The system shall be based as much as possible on Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Single Board Computers (SBC) that are paired with custom Single Event Upset (SEU) protection circuitry. Custom electronic boards can be based on RAD-tolerant IC s. Moreover mechatronics COTS components for motor control with radiation compatibility and EtherCAT interface shall be developedfor usage in relatively benign radiation environments such as on ISS (internal & external). In order to host advanced robotic control stations and equipment within or outside the ISS environment in the future modified COTS components must be developed and qualified for total dose and SEU compatibility. Standard processing power comparable with Pentium-type (dual-core) Central Processing Unit (CPU s) must be made available for future robotics programmes such as e.g. the METERON project in order to provide access of novel robotics technologies to space. The target application of this activity is the METERON (Multipurpose End-To-End Robotic Operations Network) project. In METERON it is the scope to validate in orbit the use of advanced robotics for haptic telepresence and bilateral control applications. The proposed activity shall aim at developing a demonstration model of a new generation on-board computer stack and distributed joint controller units tested for Total-dose and SEU of an ISS environment (internal as well as external). The on-board computer as well as several motor controller Printed Circuit Boards (PCB s) with SEU protection shall be developed in an distributed architecture. The motor controller PCB s shall be connected through a high-speed data bus suitable for high-bandwidth robotic control applications (in the 100Mbit/s range). Along with the hardware development testing and application software shallbe developed in a model-based way thus allowing maximum re-use for different applications. The output of the activity shall directly be used with a haptic device scheduled for launch into ISS under the METERON project. So in addition to development and testing the verification in an end-to-end scenario shall also be the scope of this activity. The activity is anticipated to run under close supervision of the METERON project team. The goal of this activity is also to produce a human hand exoskeleton. This device isa sort of semi-rigid glove that when worn by a human operator allows him to command a dexterous robot hand and receive haptic feedback from it. The human hand exoskelton subject of this development is intended to be Major organization : EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY (ESA) Address : ESA Head Office, 8-10 Rue Mario Nikis, 75738 Paris Cedex 15 Country :France Email : [email protected] Tender notice number : AO8004 Notice type : Tender Notice Open date : 2014-10-06 Tender documents : T23129905.html (c) 2014 Euclid Infotech Pvt.
