SC14 Registration Opens, Technical Program Goes Live

NEW ORLEANS --(Business Wire)--

Online registration for the 2014 International Conference on High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis, better known as SC14, is now open on the SC14 website. SC14's highly competitive and renowned Technical Program is also now live on the website listing opportunities to see how #HPCmatters through panels, research papers, tutorials, and workshops.

This year's Supercomputing Conference, SC14, will be held in New Orleans from November 16-21. With SC's new theme, "HPC matters", marking the 26th annual conference, SC14 attendees can expect a fresh look at high performance computing (HPC). SC14 will not only bring HPC's emerging techniques and innovative applications to New Orleans, but they will also deliver a stronger message of just how much HPC impacts our lives.

"HPC is such an important tool for scientific discovery. Without it, we could not have achieved the scientific advances and technologies we have today," says SC14's Conference Chair and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Deputy Associate Director At-Large for Computation, Trish Damkroger. "Our message, HPCmatters, is meant to inspire and engage our community and next-generation in HPC. The idea is to highlight how HPC is a contributing factor in our lives, from developing new alternative fuels to finding cures for cancer."

The backbone of support for HPCmatters is SC14's rigorous Technical Program. It provides conference attendees with exciting peer-reviewed, high-quality technical forums on cutting-edge techniques and technologies in HPC.

"It is important that we tailor the program to discuss the hardest problems facing HPC right now," says computing pioneer Jack Dongarra of the University of Tennessee. "In the face of exascale computing, we are facing a whole new set of challenges from hardware with energy-efficiency, memory technologies, interconnect technologies; software with scalable systems, programming systems, and data management; algorithms with new methods at exascale; resilience and correctness; and scientific productivity. These are some of the hard-hitting points for HPC, which will be discussed throughout the Technical Program."

The SC14 Technical Program will cover a broad spectrum of technical presentations and discussions, with more than 81 rigorously peer-reviewed papers (with a 20% acceptance rate), 33 workshops and 33 tutorials, in addition to panels and posters that showcase the latest findings from laboratories and research institutions around the world. See a full list of workshops and tutorials on the SC14 website.

In addition to the Technical Program, SC14 will continue its tradition of providing an unparalleled exhibit space, which uniquely brings together leaders in academia, research, government and industry. The SC14 exhibit floor is a natural complement to the technical program as a venue for debuting the most leading-edge prototypes and services in HPC and high performance networking. HPC Interconnections will also be returning to SC14. Through this program, SC will provide a welcoming entry for attendees who may be new to the community or the conference. A range of initiatives help attendees get the most out of their time at the conference and help them engage more deeply in the HPC community. Read more about HPC Interconnections.

As a reminder, there are still a few chances to participate in the Technical Program. July 31 is the deadline for:

Emerging Technologies

Birds-of-a-feather Sessions (BoFs)

Scientific Visualization Showcase

Doctoral Showcase Program

Research and Educational Posters

Graduate and Undergraduate ACM Research Poster Competition
