Syniverse Inaugurates New Dubai Office

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates --(Business Wire)--

Syniverse announced it has opened a new Dubai office that will consolidate its services in one of the Middle East's major business centers and deliver a greater breadth and depth of services to customers across the Middle East and Africa. The opening marks an expansion that further strengthens the company's solutions offerings in the region.

Growing from three people just three years ago to a staff of more than 30 now, Syniverse's (News - Alert) Dubai office supports over 150 customers in more than 50 countries across the Middle East and Africa. The new location brings together employees from Syniverse's acquisition of MACH (News - Alert), who became a part of Syniverse in 2013. As a result, Syniverse is able to streamline its services in a more comprehensive product portfolio while enabling the company to provide more centralized support with one multilingual team in the same time zone.

"With its rapidly growing economy and strategic central location, Dubai is a crucial business center that will anchor our presence across the Middle East and Africa," said Nour Al Atassi, Regional Vice President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Syniverse. "As mobile use continues to soar in this region, our newly integrated office will enable us to provide superior breadth, depth and speed in bringing to market the advanced solutions that our customers' mobile users demand."

The Middle East and Africa offer a promising market for mobile services. In 2014, mobile subscriptions in the Middle East are forecast to exceed 300 million after just reaching 200 million in the third quarter of 2013, according to Informa. Likewise, in Africa, IDC forecasts that the smartphone market will double in volume from 2013 and account for close to one-third of all mobile device shipments by 2017.

"The Middle East and Africa represents one of the world's fastest-growing mobile markets, and our new Dubai office strengthens our commitment to deliver the highest level of service we can to serve customer needs in this region," Al Atassi said. "With mobile penetration expected to reach almost 94 percent in the Middle East this year and 125 percent by 2015, we stand ready to provide the skill and experience to help mobile users realize the full potential of mobility."

Syniverse's new office builds on its recent momentum in this region. The company recently determined that the region offers a $2.6 billion opportunity for new services based on mobile context - intelligence gained through mobile network operators' subscriber data, such as where users like to go, what they like to buy, and how they like to be contacted. Syniverse also announced a contract renewal with the largest mobile operator in Israel, Cellcom (News - Alert) Israel, to provide financial clearing solutions.
