Defense contractor plans new Augusta office [The Augusta Chronicle, Ga. :: ]

(Augusta Chronicle (GA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 22--A Pennsylvania-based information technology and software development firm will be setting up shop in Augusta.

The Augusta Economic Development Authority announced Tuesday that Sabre Systems Inc. will be opening an office in Enterprise Mill, prompted by the upcoming move of Cyber Command to Fort Gordon.

Sabre Systems, headquartered in Warrington, Penn., has five other offices in Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia. In addition to being a defense contractor, the company has commercial clients, such as ArcelorMittal and Asplundh.

"The Augusta office enables us to continue providing seamless support to existing Army customers and posture us for future growth at Fort Gordon," said Philip Jaurigue, the president of Sabre Systems.

The announcement said the office will open this summer.

"The recent announcement by the military that the Cyber Command would relocate to Fort Gordon was a game-changer for Augusta, and the Augusta Economic Development Authority decided to be pro-active in the recruitment and assistance of defense contractors to Augusta," said Henry Ingram, the authority's chairman.

Founded in 1989, Sabre works in the realm of communications, command, control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and critical infrastructure protection.

Sabre is the second contractor to announce a move to Augusta in the last two months. In June, security firm MacAulay-Brown Inc. opened an office on Wheeler Road.
