First Advantage Executive to Help Shape Screening Best Practices on ASIS Guideline Committee

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)--

First Advantage, a Symphony Technology Group (STG) company and the leading global provider of background screening analytics and identity solutions, today announced that Kerstin Bagus, the company's director of global regulatory compliance, has been named a member of ASIS International's newly established Guideline Committee. In this role, Bagus will contribute her expertise to the development of new industry guidelines for preemployment screening of job applicants.

ASIS International, the preeminent organization for security professionals, develops educational programs and materials that address crucial security interests. One such area is preemployment background screenings, used by employers to ensure they hire qualified, productive candidates who pose minimal risk to the company, its customers and employees.

In 2009, ASIS released its "Preemployment Background Screening Guide" to aid employers in understanding and implementing the fundamental concepts, methodologies and legal issues associated with the screening of job applicants. With the use of such screenings proliferating in more recent years, ASIS plans to develop additional guidelines surrounding their use with the development ofits new "Preemployment Background Screening Supplement (PBSS) Guideline 2014." To create this document, the organization sought the expertise of leaders from across the preemployment screening industry. Bagus, who holds Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) status in Canada, the EU and U.S., has knowledge in all aspects of background screening and managing global compliance. By sharing insight for aligning industry practices to conform with U.S. information privacy regulations, she will play an important role in the collaborative development of this document.

"Having served on the committee that created the original 2009 Preemployment Background Screening Guide, it is an honor to once again work with ASIS to develop this new supplement," said Bagus. "With more employers recognizing the value in conducting preemployment screenings for their candidates, this document will be a timely source of vital information to help them maintain compliance as they screen their job applicants."
