Portugal,United Kingdom : VODAFONE partners with PORTUGAL TELECOM to set up and share fibre networks [TendersInfo (India)](TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Vodafone Group Plc., a British telecom giant, announced that Vodafone Portugal and Portugal Telecom SGPS SA have entered into partnership to set up and share fibre networks reaching 900,000 homes in Portugal. The agreement allows both firms to deliver high-speed data services to an extra 450,000 homes and businesses throughout Portugal. Portugal Telecom will responsible for adding significant 'time to market' benefits. Portugal Telecom will allow Vodafone Portugal to provide high-speed broadband, fixed telephony and television services to almost 2 million homes by the end of 2015. The agreement is effective from December 2014. It will run for 25 years. Under the agreement, the two firms will maintain complete autonomy and flexibility in creating their respective retail offers under the agreement. Philipp Humm, Vodafone's CEO of Europe, stated "This fibre sharing agreement is significant as it accelerates our fibre-to-the-home roll-out plans and enables us to bring converged products and services to almost half a million more homes and businesses across Portugal."
