ZTE sold 52,800 units of Nubia Z7 smartphones in 4.5 minutes [Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia)]

(Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The ZTE Nubia Z7 range of smartphones made a major splash in the Chinese smartphone market last week, with the company reporting that 52,800 units of the range being sold in 4 minutes and 36 seconds.

The Nubia stable was officially launched the previous week on July 7, and hit the Chinese market last week with 3 devices in different form factors: the flagship ZTE Nubia Z7, the compact Nubia Z7 Mini, and the more phablet-like Nubia Z7 Max. All three phones come with an extremely affordable price point in China, but the jury is out on how the phones will do if and when they are brought to other markets.

More details of the Nubia Z7 when it leaked prior to launch The main Nubia Z7 flagship mobile is packed with high-end features similar to the LG G3, not least of which is the 5.5-inch Quad HD display which spits out a fantastic 1440x2560p resolution. Powering the device is a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage.

The ZTE Nubia Z7 Coming with 4G LTE connectivity and 3000mAh battery, the rear 13-megapixel camera sports an Exmor RS sensor and optical image stabilisation (OIS) that is capable of 4K video recording, while there is also a front-facing 5-megapixel shooter. The Nubia Z7 retails in China for 3456 Yuan (approximately RM1767 or US$550).

Full specifications of the ZTE Nubia Z7 The ZTE Nubia Z7 Max comes with much the same specifications as the flagship Z7, including the screen size but the screen resolution has been downplayed to a more conventional Full HD resolution instead of Quad HD. The Snapdragon 801 CPU also clocks in at the same speed as the main Z7 at 2.5GHz, but comes with less RAM at 2GB.

The ZTE Nubia Z7 Max The Z7 Max has a microSD slot for expandable storage, the same camera specs as the aforementioned Z7, and also will run Android 4.4. Kit Kat. It will pack a 3100mAh battery which is ever so slightly more powerful than the flagship’s juice pack, but the Max actually costs much less in China, at just 1999 Yuan which is around RM1022 or US$320.

Full specifications of the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max The last device in the line up is the Nubia Z7 Mini, which has the same processor, cameras, Android version, and dual SIM card slots like the other two, but as befits a compact variant the screen size has dropped to 5-inches (not exactly ‘mini’ is it), internal storage has been lowered to 16GB and the battery is smaller at 2300mAh. The Z7 Mini will however come with LTE capability, making the 1499 Yuan (approximately RM766 or US$240) price tag very attractive.

Full specifications of the ZTE Nubia Z7 Mini The ZTE Nubia Z7 Mini is only 0.5? smaller than the Max Right now the ZTE Nubia Z7 range is only available in China, with no word yet on when (if ever) these smartphones will be made available to the rest of the world. But with the enviable specs at bargain prices, the ZTE models are definitely something we will be keeping our eye on.

Could ZTE be the next mainland Chinese brand to make a sizable impact of the smartphone scene? Let us know what you think of the Z7 series in the comments.
