EyeLock's myris Gets Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) EyeLock reported that myris, its new iris authentication device that debuted at CES has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 in the computer and information technology category.

According to a company release, the myris was developed in collaboration with product strategy and design firm Frog. The goal was ambitious, yet simple: take EyeLock's iris authentication technology from the realm of physical access security and put it in the hands of everyday people. Myris is designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. Users can simply install the myris on any desktop or laptop, pick it up and just look into its mirror to unlock their email, social accounts, and other sensitive data.

"EyeLock ID, our enabling platform technology, solves current critical security issues facing society today. myris is an evolution of the EyeLock technology designed to serve a larger consumer market as the first ever iris-based logical identity authentication solution," explained Jim Demitrieus, Chief Executive Officer, EyeLock Corp. "We are honored to be recognized by Red Dot with such a prestigious award. As we continue to evolve our technology platform to meet ever-growing market demand, we are deeply encouraged by the overwhelming positive market reception to myris." EyeLock noted that myris was selected among 4,815 entries from over 53 countries during the 2014 competition. Germany's Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen has run the Red Dot competition since 1954, and past winners have included consumer electronics brands including Apple and Bose. The award is internationally recognized as a seal of quality.

Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot, on the decision process in the Red Dot Award: "The 40 experts assessed the quality of the entries with the utmost care and attention. Due to their backgrounds, they also assessed the special cultural aspects of the designs from 53 countries. But only the best products receive an award from the jury. This is especially reflected in the percentage of successful entries in the Red Dot Award, which is much smaller in contrast to other international design competitions. Therefore, the winners can be proud of their achievements - with their entries, they stood out from the rest and were able to pass the test in front of the critical eyes of the experts." EyeLock is a company focused on iris authentication.
