MediaTek launches its first true 64-bit Octa-core LTE SoC [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MediaTek is making rapid moves in mobile computing. Right after announcing the first “true eight-core MT6592 processor” present on the FLY Tornado IQ455, MediaTek has now officially revealed the MT6795. This is their first high end 64-bit True Octa-core LTE SoC (System on a Chip) and features the world's first 2K display support up to 2560 X 1600 resolution. The MT6795 is solely designed for high-end phone makers to take advantage of the upcoming new 64-bit Android OS capability announced recently at Google I/O 2014.

The MT6795 will be clocked up to 2.2Ghz speed and features the CorePilot, a technology that unlocks the full power of all the eight Cortex-A53 cores providing world class multi-processor performance. The SoC provides a top end, dual-channel LPDDR3 memory bandwidth clocked at 933Mhz speed for better multitasking. Thanks to the IMG PowerVR G6 GPU, new features are added such as support for 120Hz displays and the capability to create and playback 480 frames per second (fps) FullHD Super-Slow motion videos.

MediaTek's SoC supports multi-mode wireless charging with the integrated multi-mode wireless chip and support for all networks including LTE. The SoC is built in a 28nm fabrication and features a low power hardware requirement for 2K record and video playback, as well as for apps and graphics intense games providing better battery usage.

This completes MediaTek's 64-bit product category, the MT6795 meant for the power users, the MT6752 for the mainstream and the MT6732 for the entry level. MediaTek confirmed we will be able to see devices powered with the MT6795 by the end of 2014.
