Google unveils 'Project Zero' hacker squad to defend people against cyber-attacks [Asian News International]

(Asian News International Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Wellington, July 16 (ANI): Tech titan Google on Wednesday unveiled 'Project Zero' - a team of elite hackers designated for checking internet security holes and defending people from cyber-attacks.

The team of hackers will look for threats, mainly on 'zero-day vulnerabilities' such as the recent 'heartbleed' bug, in the most popular software such as Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Google security researcher, Chris Evans said that they are hiring the best practically-minded security researchers and contributing 100 percent of their time toward improving security across the internet.

He added that Project Zero would conduct its work transparently, with all bugs being filed in a public database after first being passed on to the software's vendor for fixing.

Public disclosure will also give users the opportunity to monitor how long companies take to resolve vulnerabilities, the report added. (ANI) (c) 2014 aninews.in All rights reserved. Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. (Syndigate.info).
