Nominations Open for the 2014 NC Tech Awards

RALEIGH, N.C. --(Business Wire)--

The North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA), the voice of the technology industry in North Carolina, has opened the nomination/application period for the NC Tech Awards, formerly known as the NCTA (News - Alert) 21 Awards. Winners will be announced during a gala celebration on November 6, 2014, at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The awards, known as The Beacons, will be presented to 28 companies and organizations, as well as six individual leaders. Companies do not need to be members of NCTA to win; the application deadline is August 15, 2014.

"We've rebranded NC Tech Awards to more accurately represent the value they offer the winnes," said Brooks Raiford, President and CEO, NCTA. "We have a new theme, a new set of awards and categories, and are moving the awards gala to the Raleigh Convention Center to accommodate the growing audience, which has topped 800 in recent years."

Raiford also said that these changes "will deliver a consistent and more meaningful brand as we honor North Carolina's best with The Beacons. Both member and non-member companies are encouraged to nominate or apply to join the ranks of the state's leading tech companies."

Individuals, companies, organizations and institutions can be nominated by third parties; companies are also encouraged to apply directly. Nomination and application instructions, deadlines, and online forms are posted at NCTechAwards.com.

Award finalists, which are announced in early October, are selected by a review committee comprised of non-profit, media, education, and technology leaders representing various regions of the state.

The awards will once again recognize a "Technology Executive of the Year," which will be decided by popular vote through an online poll.

Sponsors to date include Grant Thornton, Title Sponsor, and: DataChambers (News - Alert), EMC, Cherry Bekaert, Accenture, iContact, Time Warner Cable Business Class, Telovations, CCCi, Nexsen Pruet, Resolvit, Smith Anderson, Vaco, Beacon Technologies, Business North Carolina and Business Wire.
