Oakley accepting applications for fire board [Contra Costa Times :: ]

(Contra Costa Times (Walnut Creek, CA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 14--OAKLEY -- The City Council is scheduled to fill a seat on the East Contra Costa Fire District board next month.

At its Aug. 12 meeting, council members are expected to appoint someone to the seat that fire district Director Kevin Bouillon recently announced that he'll be vacating in mid-August because he's moving out of the area.

In addition, the term on a second seat currently held by Director Ronald Johansen is set to expire in October.

Bouillon, Johansen and Jonathan Michaelson are Oakley's representatives on the fire district's nine-member board of directors, all of whom are appointed by their respective cities or the county.

Michaelson's seat does not expire until April 2017; terms are staggered to preserve the knowledge of district operations that incumbents acquire over time.

The terms of two other directors -- Cheryl Morgan and Bob Kenny -- expired in February, but they are remaining in office until the county Board of Supervisors appoints replacements. The county interviewed half a dozen applicants this week and is scheduled to make a decision July 29.

Individuals interested in representing the city on the fire board can obtain an application form from the city's website at www.ci.oakley.ca.us, request one by emailing [email protected], or get one by going to City Hall at 3231 Main St.

The completed forms must be submitted by 6 p.m. Aug. 4. Applicants are advised to attend the Aug. 12 City Council meeting to be interviewed.
