BRIEF: Calhoun County Schools official takes leadership role in state education group [The Anniston Star, Ala. :: ]

(Anniston Star (AL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 12--Donald Turner, executive director at the Calhoun County school system, has been selected to serve as a member of the board of directors for the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools.

Turner, who's also president of the Alabama Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, will represent AASCD members on the CLAS board, according to a press release Friday from the organization.

Attempts Friday to reach Turner and Calhoun County schools Superintendent Joe Dyer were unsuccessful, but the release states that in his 24 years working in Calhoun County schools, Turner has served as teacher, assistant principal and principal.

The Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools helps school administrators by providing opportunities for professional development.

"We are excited and privileged to welcome Donald Turner, Jr. to the CLAS board of directors," CLAS executive director L. Earl Franks was quoted as saying in the release. "His tremendous leadership qualities are evident as he was selected to serve as president of the AASCD affiliate." ___ (c)2014 The Anniston Star (Anniston, Ala.)
