Scholar recommended for Doctor of Philosophy in public administration - Press Release issued by University of Sindh


(Pakistan News Releases Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 10, 2014 (PPI-OT) Following is the text of press release issued by University of Sindh Quote Scholar Khalid Noor Panhwar has been recommended for the award of PhD in Public Administration after successful public defense of his research in a ceremony held at the Video Conference Room, University of Sindh Jamshoro.



Vice Chancellor of Sindh University, Prof. Dr. Abida Taherani chaired the ceremony while Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi, Dr. Parvaiz Pathan and others were in attendance.

The topic of his research was 'human resource development: a case study of Thatta and Badin districts.'A news release issued by the spokesperson of University of Sindh said the scholar had carried out study in the remote areas of the province Thatta and Badin, wherein he had found that the indigenous cultural values promoted gender inequalities in Sindhi society in terms of education which resulted low attendance of female students in the schools.


While presenting his thesis, he said the policy maker could decide to bring changes in the education by making the effective transmission, acquisition, creation and adaptation of information, knowledge, skills and values by creating a comprehensive network of vocational and educational institutes in order to boost the literacy rate.

The scholar said the accessibility to the free education up to matriculation, free provision of textbooks, grant of scholarships and incentives to the students as well as teachers in both the districts must be ensured.

He said the human resources development which might result in increase in productivity and improved skills must be promoted.

Khalid Noor further said that during his research, he found that both the districts had the bleak condition pertaining to the existence of the vocational education.

"There is a sever gender disparity as well in Thatta and Badin districts; Most of the union councils in the two districts are devoid of proper implementation of schools and colleges and have the lowest qualifications", he said.

The scholar said that there was absolute absence of primary, secondary, higher and vocational institutes at certain union councils adding that such mass illiteracy and void in terms of technical education would lead to abject poverty and dejection.

The scholar recommended that there was acute need for the institutions of all levels of education, general as well as vocational in these districts adding that his research presented the clear gender biased in the researched districts of the province.

Prof. Dr. Hakim Ali Kanasro was the supervisor of the scholar and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Bux Burdi of the Department of Public Administration was his co supervisor while Prof. Dr. Abu Zar Wajidi, ex. Vice chancellor of Karachi University served as the scholar's external examiner.

In the ceremony his thesis was appreciated with the recommendations to award the scholar with PhD degree.
