Solarflare(R) Expands SolarCapture Software Offerings, Boosts Critical Network Security and Monitoring Measures

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/10/14 -- Solarflare, the leader in application-intelligent networking software and hardware, today announced the general availability SolarCapture™ Pro v1.3, SolarCapture™ Live and SolarCapture™ SDK.

These new packet processing and capture products provide a full range of solutions for network monitoring, network visibility, network instrumentation, performance analysis and network security. SolarCapture products also feature kernel bypass for extreme packet rate processing, run on Solarflare's industry-leading 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) and 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE) Flareon™ PCIe 3.0 server I/O adapters, and can cost-effectively transform every server in the data center into a high-performance, high-precision monitoring device.

SolarCapture Pro is a full-featured packet capture application that is ideal for financial, ISP, telecommunications and other markets in which network analysis, monitoring and optimization is business critical and required for regulatory compliance. SolarCapture Pro contains advanced features such as precise time stamping, line-rate capture, disk writer, and packet replay. SolarCapture Pro leverages the adapter's ability to associate time stamps with both ingress and egress traffic based on a highly accurate +/- 50ns adapter clock synchronized by Solarflare Precision Time Protocol (PTP) hardware.

With application clustering, SolarCapture Pro can enable multiple parallel instances of applications to process captured data at line rate, eliminating application and host bottlenecks that can cause dropped packets. SolarCapture Pro can process millions of packets per second, and can also be configured to spread capture loads over a larger number of cores using receive-side scaling (RSS). In addition, SolarCapture Pro includes a libpcap interface to support integration with custom and third-party applications.

"With these new enhancements to our SolarCapture software suite, Solarflare customers can achieve the network visibility they need to precisely measure latency, secure their network data and improve network application performance," commented Russell Stern, CEO at Solarflare. "Plus, because these measures are implemented at the server level, our customers enjoy a greater degree of flexibility in their server deployment strategies. Not to mention the peace of mind of knowing they now have a 'last line of defense' against even the most sophisticated cyber attacks, distributed throughout their network." SolarCapture Live is ideal for security applications that analyze packets in real time as they enter the server. SolarCapture Live includes advanced features such as line-rate capture and a libpcap interface for integration into firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and live threat analysis using Snort, Surricata or other packet inspection applications.

The third member of Solarflare's software solutions, SolarCapture SDK is a flexible packet processing tool kit for developing high-performance packet processing applications. SolarCapture SDK is ideal for telecommunications, security appliances, financial and other markets in which high performance packet processing is critical.
