eMAG receives 6.65 m euros state aid for building software centre in Bucharest [Agerpres, Bucharest, Romania :: ]

(Agerpres (Romania) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 08--BUCHAREST -- Agerpres/ -- eMAG, the top online retailer in the central and southern European region, this month is going to launch a new investment project dubbed 'The eMAG IT Research Software Development Centre' expected to generate 203 jobs, for which it received a 6.65 million euros state aid, via the Ministry of Public Finances (MFP), reads a release of the company on Monday sent to AGERPRES.

The software centre, to be built in Bucharest, will contribute 25.8 million euros to regional development in the 2014-2021 interval, following to provide its first application this October.

Helped by the consultants from Deloitte, eMAG applied for the state aid in end-June.

'We appreciate the fact that the state institutions were open and supported us in our new investment projects through which we are also going to support, in our turn, the local economy. We are adding now the creation of 200 jobs, besides all those benefits that we brought to Romania so far. And I refer now to the more than 500 Romanian suppliers that we have, the more than 10 training companies we constantly work with and the media companies, the real estate developers we work with for our office and logistic spaces, which represent just one small part of our actions that had a significant impact on the local economy,' said Tudor Manea, Vice Chairman and head of the Human Resources&Technological Department of the company.

The project is part of our expansion strategy at European level. The best known and the most used electronic trading platform in Romania, with sales worth 188 million euros posted in 2013 and targeted sales worth 260 million euros this year, already entered two other regional markets: the Hungarian and Bulgarian markets respectively.

'Our expansion to the foreign markets will continue. Our development pace is accelerated and we will help with the transformation of Romania into a regional Internet and technological centre. Moreover, we will propose projects that will capitalize on the social and economic environment in Romania,' said Tudor Manea.

In order to support the company's development strategy, Dante International decided to create new companies specialised in acquisitions, online marketing and software development. In this context, in May 2014 eMAG It Research was created, as a new entity to focus on the development of specialised software in electronic trading.

eMAG is the largest online retailer at regional level and one of the creators of the online trading market in Romania.
