Telebyte Announces the World's First Standards-Based VDSL2 Vectoring Crosstalk Emulator

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) (PRWEB) July 07, 2014 Telebyte, a US-based global xDSL test equipment solution provider, today announced the release of the Model VxT-48-DC+ xTalk Emulator for VDSL2 Testing from the TNO DSL Seminar 2014. The advanced, standards-based crosstalk emulator is now available worldwide and answers the growing need for repeatable, configurable test equipment for physical-layer testing per TR-249 Issue 1.

True to expectations, millions of Vectored VDSL2 lines have now been deployed and the future looks bright for a continuation of this trend. Service providers who are eager to profit from consumer demand for next-generation entertainment and business applications may now utilize the VxT-48-DC+ to help accelerate implementation of Vectoring on existing copper lines. At the same time, equipment manufacturers are now able to assure service providers that their product complies with the standard.

Until today there has been no common platform for physical layer testing of Vectored VDSL2 equipment that matched the requirements of TR-249 Issue 1. This includes emulation of five independent test loops over 48 channels and complex mechanical interruptions on the CO, midpoint and CPE side of the loop. The only choices have been Cable Farms where correlation of test results from site to site can be problematic. The VxT-48-DC+ offers a reliable and automated way to determine performance and comply with the standard.

"We were waiting for ratification of TR-249 to release a fully compliant crosstalk emulator," said Michael Breneisen, President of Telebyte. "Participation in the Broadband Forum standards meetings has allowed us to be involved in the process as well as anticipate the final requirements as early possible. We already have installations at several major service providers around the world. Many of them own multiple units and use them in different locations. We also see the VxT-48-DC+ used to supplement testing with Cable Farms." The VXT-48 emulates the symmetric model of the ATIS Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (NIPP-NAI-2009-014R3) on 48 channels (using the upper-left 48 x 48 quadrant of the 100 x 100 random-drawn matrix). It also models crosstalk between xDSL multi-pairs within a cable binder. Remote commands or the VxT Control Center software may be used to control line lengths and mechanical interruptions settings.

Telebyte's full line of VDSL2 Vectoring physical-layer test equipment also includes products for noise generation, injection, capture and analysis of alien crosstalk, RFI, impulse noise and more.
