OMANTEL APPOINTS NEW CEO [Week, The (Oman)](Week, The (Oman) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Omantel's Board of Directors announced the appointment of Talal al Mamari as the new chief executive officer earlier this week. He replaces Dr Amer al Rawas who decided to move to the oil and gas sector as CEO of one of the companies involved in the enhancement of oil production and preserving the environment surrounding oil production operations. The Board of Directors had earlier approved a succession plan within the company to ensure business continuity as usual in case of any senior executive's position falling vacant. Prior to his appoint ment as CEO, Mamari held the position of chief financial officer of Omantel with the responsibility of preserv ing and creating share holder value for the company's investors. Mamari chairs several internal committees and teams and sits in boards of various companies and investment funds. Commenting on the appointment, Sultan al Harthi, chairman of Omantel Board of Directors, said, "Mamari possesses the capa bilities and skills needed to lead the company in the next phase and we are confident of his ability to work closely with the executive team and other stakeholders to realise the company's strategy and objectives.
