ITIDA signs EGP 35m agreements with governmental institutions [Daily News Egypt]

(Daily News Egypt Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The board of directors at the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) signed on 29 June EGP 35m three-year cooperation agreements with several government institutions.

The authorities involved include the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Eitesal association, affiliated to the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI). Also involved in the agreement is the General Division for Computers, of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC).

The ministry statement said the agreements would help these institutions establish their institutional infrastructure, develop working systems and increase competitiveness and efficiency of ICT member companies.

"This comes in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to support civil society organisations[government institutions]," the ministry said.

They added that it also aims to "strengthen cooperation with the government sector to develop the ICT industry in order to contribute to the national GDP and increase the Egyptian exports." Last month, an agreement between ITIDA and IBM was launched.

"IBM will help deepen the technical and business expertise of the software companies through a series of workshops and mentoring," the ministry said on the IBM and ITIDA agreement.
