Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers (CHART) will honor Harris Rosen, President & COO, Rosen Hotels & Resorts, with Commitment to People Award at 88th Hospitality Training Conference

The Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers (CHART) (www.chart.org) is proud to announce Harris Rosen, President & COO, Rosen Hotels & Resorts, is the recipient of their 2014 Commitment to People Award. Harris will be honored at the Commitment to People Awards Gala on Monday evening, July 28, 2014, during CHART's 88th semi-annual Hospitality Training Conference to be held at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, GA.

"Created in 1993, this prestigious award is given annually to a CHART member's CEO/president in the hospitality industry who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the development of his or her associates," explained Calvin Banks, CHART President and Director of Training at The Broadmoor. Calvin added, "The emphasis that Harris puts on the value of education and learning opportunities for his associates is to be commended."

CHART's Award Selection Committee reviews and ranks the Commitment to People nominees in four categories:

  • Effective communication of the organization's culture
  • Programs that demonstrate a commitment to people
  • Efforts to be involved in the development of people
  • Ability to break down barriers to create opportunities

"This award comes at an exciting time as the company celebrates its 40th anniversary," said Jonni Kimberly, who has been with Rosen Hotels & Resorts for 35 years, the last 20 of which have been serving as human resource director. Jonni added, "Harris Rosen provides tuition reimbursement and scholarships for our associates and others in the Orlando community and offers an incredibly affordable associate healthcare program with low cost medical visits and prescriptions. These and other programs have helped us maintain one of the lowest employee turnover rates in the hospitality indstry. His dedication to his associates is second to none."

Rosen started his Orlando company in 1974 with the purchase of his first hotel now called the Rosen Inn International. Rosen Hotels & Resorts recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with seven hotels under its umbrella. Rosen maintains a foundation which provides funds for deserving organizations and initiatives such as student scholarships, water-filtration systems and self-sufficient farms in Haiti, mentoring programs and parenting classes, among others.


Rosen received a bachelor's of science degree in 1961 from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.
