Photo provided to China Daily Studying abroad gains popularity Overseas study attractive at earlier age The Sony Dream Classroom program will launch its 2014 program in June to donate equipment and establish multimedia teaching classrooms in elementary schools in the remote and poor villages of China. Sponsored by electronics giant Sony and organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the program, created in 2013, aims to give students — mostly left-behind children — an opportunity to enjoy learning through multimedia technologies. From next week, volunteers, including Sony employees and students from different universities in Beijing, will trek off to more than 20 remote areas, such as Nyingchi county in the Tibet autonomous region and Nujiang prefecture in Yunnan province. Most of students in the selected schools in the areas never have a multi-media teaching class before. Last year, more than 600 volunteers joined the five-month program. Sony donated 25 multi-media classrooms in 23 cities including Shanxi, Guizhou and Yunnan province. During last year's program, more than 15,000 students have attended classes taught in classrooms equipped with computers, projectors, audio speakers and other teaching appliances and software.
