With fewer options, executive pay takes a breather in Colorado [Gazette, The (CO)]

(Gazette, The (CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Executive compensation in Colorado dived last year, but not for everyone, with top managers at Starz, Chipotle Mexican Grill, EchoStar and several petroleum companies receiving significant pay hikes.

After increasing by nearly half from 2011 to 2012, average compensation for the top two executives at the 50 largest Colorado companies in market value dropped by nearly a quarter, according to a Denver Post survey based on proxy data provided by S&P Capital IQ.

The decline took average executive pay in that group from $6.1 million in 2012 to $4.6 million in 2013. Median pay, the point where half the executives made more and half less, dropped a smaller 13.2 percent, from $3.7 million in 2012 to $3.2 million in 2013.
