Jenkins named to head development board [Carlsbad Current-Argus, N.M. :: ]

(Carlsbad Current-Argus (NM) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 28--CARLSBAD -- Members of the Carlsbad Department of Development recently elected Jay Jenkins, president and chief executive officer of Carlsbad National Bank, to the top position on its executive board.

Jenkins, who served as vice-president during last fiscal year, will replace Dave Sepich as president for the upcoming year. CARC, Inc. CEO Mark Schinnerer, was elected vice-president and Russell Hardy will served as treasurer. Sepich would move to the past-president spot.

"I'm very excited about it and our board," Jenkins said about his new post.

Jenkins hopes to continue the work the CDOD does around the community. He says that the organization should place strong importance on in bringing in and supporting manufacturing industries in the area "Some of the things I try to stress is the importance of the community infrastructure and sustaining our economy here," Jenkins said. "We can't lose sight of manufacturing, industrial and distribution sites. We need to continue to prospect those companies and continue to support the ones we have here." CDOD director John Waters spoke highly of the new board and touted their business diversity.

"One of the neat things about our board is that we always have a variety of different business backgrounds across the spectrum," Waters said. "Our board works hard." Jenkins has been with Carlsbad National Bank for 16 years, he said. He has currently served as the head of the bank for more than two years.
