BRIEF: McNabb to provide youth mobile crisis [The Knoxville News-Sentinel, Tenn. :: ](Knoxville News-Sentinel (TN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 26--Beginning July 1, mobile crisis services for children and youth in Knox, Blount, Loudon, Monroe and Sevier counties will have a new hot line number -- 865-539-2409 -- and a new provider. The state awarded the mobile crisis contract for ages younger than 18 to Helen Ross McNabb Center, which will provide a 24-hour crisis response system for people experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The program provides assessments, triage and referral to appropriate levels of care, including face-to-face or video conference meetings if necessary. McNabb Center already provides services for children and youth, and has the contract for adult mobile crisis services for this area. The change from the former provider, Youth Villages, came in May when Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services "regionalized" mobile crisis services provided around the state. Through a competitive grant process, McNabb won the contract for this region, although Youth Villages still provides mobile crisis services in some other regions. ___ (c)2014 the Knoxville News-Sentinel (Knoxville, Tenn.)
