U.S. Department Of Commerce's International Buyer Program Selects 2015 Trade Shows(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON, June 25 -- The U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration issued the following news release: Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Stefan M. Selig today announced that 24 trade shows have been selected for the International Trade Administration's 2015 International Buyer Program (IBP). The IBP recruits thousands of pre-screened foreign buyers, sales representatives, and business owners to attend U.S. trade shows each year, providing U.S. companies with excellent opportunities to expand their global sales.. "The IBP is one means by which the International Trade Administration expands and deepens efforts to create an export-oriented business culture across our nation, and saves U.S. businesses valuable time and resources in their pursuit of global opportunities," said Under Secretary Selig. "In 2013, the United States exported a record $2.3 trillion in goods and services, and exports continue to be the engine of our economic growth. The IBP is one more example of how the Commerce Department is working for America by giving businesses powerful tools to help them compete globally." The selected shows cover a variety of manufacturing and service sectors such as franchising, information technology, energy, agribusiness, packaging, consumer goods, media, and medical equipment. On average, the IBP facilitates millions of dollars in new U.S. export sales each year. Last year, the IBP recruited more than 11,500 representatives from companies around the globe. The International Trade Administration hosts an International Trade Center at each IBP show where foreign buyers can obtain assistance in identifying potential business partners, and meet with U.S. companies to negotiate and close deals. U.S. exhibitors can take advantage of interpreter services and face-to-face export counseling from overseas U.S. Commercial Service representatives, who usually accompany the visiting delegations from countries worldwide. Foreign buyers and U.S. exhibitors frequently take advantage of online business matchmaking services to connect and schedule meetings prior to the show.
