New Co3 Systems Release Extends Best Practices-Based Platform to Enable Finely Tuned, Conditional Incident Response

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BOSTON, MA and CAMBRIDGE, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/24/14 -- FIRST Conference -- Co3 Systems, the leader in Incident Response Management Systems (IRMS), today announced the latest release of its Security Module. The updated platform adds support for conditional incident processing, sophisticated incident filtering and reporting, and systematized incident resolution.

According to a research report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Cybercrime costs the global economy approximately $445 billion per year, with the damage to business from the theft of intellectual property exceeding the $160 billion loss to individuals from hacking. The report highlighted that cybercrime was a growth industry that damaged trade, competitiveness and innovation. Another study sponsored by McAfee gave a slightly more conservative estimate of $375 billion in losses, while the maximum could be as much as $575 billion.

Co3's latest enhancements help response teams achieve: An agile, adaptive incident response process: Conditional incident intake and processing allows organizations to define if/then style conditions to not only fine-tune the incident submission process but also programmatically refine incident handling in response to the ongoing investigation. These features make it easy to extend beyond Co3's foundation of best practices and compliance regulations to include company-specific requirements. Because these functions are available via the Co3 Web interface, any user can implement them -- custom development by programmers and the time associated with a development cycle is not required. Detailed incident trending and analysis: Incident list filtering allows sophisticated analysis and reporting functions, including based on user-defined, ad-hoc field conditions. Filter sets can be saved for future use. As a result, organizations can easily identify and report on incident activity by a multitude of system-defined and user-defined conditions. Consistent, structured incident resolution: Users can configure Co3 to require a resolution summary and disposition upon incident closure. By forcing users to document the closure of an incident, this function not only enables a more structured resolution process in general, but also can be leveraged to fulfill regulatory requirements.

"The Co3 platform is already widely regarded as providing a best-of-breed platform for incident response since without any customization, organizations are assured of a best practices-based, compliant approach," said John Bruce, CEO of Co3 Systems. "With these additions, we've made it easy for organizations to fine-tune the Co3 platform to their unique needs and requirements. Absent our platform, this level of sophistication is either simply impossible or requires custom programming and the software development cycle associated with it. Complexity is the enemy of the speed and accuracy that are so crucial to effective incident response. This release of Co3 makes those goals readily attainable within Co3's highly regarded Web interface." Purpose-Built Incident Response ManagementCo3's Security Module is the first daily use response and preparedness platform for security incidents such as malware infections, phishing campaigns, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, device or Intellectual Property theft and system intrusions. Co3's Privacy Module extends the platform to include guidance for breaches of regulated information like personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). Considered today as the industry standard for incident response management, the Co3 platform provides an easy, automated way to ensure consistency and accountability -- across teams, organizations and external stakeholders. Together, the Modules provide the most comprehensive solution to prepare, assess, manage and mitigate security incidents and privacy breaches.
