(Pakistan & Gulf Economist Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Zong, a China mobile company and Pakistan’s fastest growing telecom network announced the official start of its exciting ‘Super 3G’ service for consumers in major cities of Pakistan at a press conference held in Islamabad. ‘Super 3G’ will help consumers experience lightening fast internet, through which they will be able to stream songs and videos within seconds. Zong ‘Super 3G’ will offer best in class technology HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access) which will offer maximum speeds of up to 42 Mbps (twice as fast as normal 3G available in Pakistan).



Speaking about the launch of the ‘Super 3G’ service, Dr. Fan Yunjun, chairman and chief executive, Zong said, "Superior customer service is an integral part of our business and cannot be ignored. Through our infrastructure - our people and processes are aligned to provide a differentiated customer experience as we keep the customer first in all that we do. Our ‘Super 3G’ service is just another example of our commitment towards providing the best data solutions to our tech-savvy customers. Our service shall offer speeds of up to 42 Mbps while normal 3G offers speeds of up to 21 Mbps. So Zong ‘Super 3G’ is twice as fast as normal 3G available in Pakistan today. The initial launch targets the two major cities of Pakistan i.e. Karachi and Lahore where we have the vastest coverage and will ensure the fastest data speed available. The second stage shall see us expand our services to other major cities". He added "Customers should look forward to superior 4G services in the months to come." All existing Zong SIMs are ‘Super 3G’ enabled so customers will not have to go through any inconvenience to get a new SIM, the tariff for 2G and 3G customers are essentially the same so customers can start using Super 3G and enjoy fast data speeds at the same exciting rates as before. Services will be available simply by changing ones network settings. The unmatched speeds will give customers the freedom of uninterrupted streaming of their favorite movies, videos and more, lightning fast downloads, indulging in fun and entertaining games with friends, and connecting to their loved ones.

Zong has the fastest growth in subscriber base in the industry and is now geared to provide the benefits of Super 3G connectivity across Pakistan to make a greater difference in the industry as a leading telecom player.


INAUGURATION OF SCHOOL FUNDED BY SSGC A Sui Southern Gas Company funded school built by Indus Resource Centre (IRC) was inaugurated today at village Din Mohammad Rind, Khairpur by Shahbaz Islam, Dy. General Manager (Corporate Communications/OD) SSGC. The utility contributed an amount of Rs. 3.6 million in building a new block comprising of nine classrooms including a science and a computer laboratory. Through the addition of this new block the school attained the level of a secondary institution, from a primary one. The guests were taken to a guided tour of the newly constructed block.

While presenting the welcome address Sadiqa Salahuddin, Executive Director IRC, stated that IRC operates with a network of 56 schools in Sindh province having 8,500 students in its folds as a community based service for the needy. She thanked SSGC for always supporting IRC in promoting the cause of education in deprived areas of Sindh province.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Islam showed his delight on the high levels of academic management IRC has demonstrated over the period of time. He said that it was the very reason that SSGC partnered with IRC second time after contributing in the construction of a school in Khanot, Jamshoro district. He said that he was highly impressed to note that IRC was able to convince the parents mostly illiterate to send their daughters to the schools.

Others who spoke on the occasion were Salman A. Siddiqui (Chief Manager SSGC), Muhammad Ali Gohar (DCM, SSGC) and Ehsan Ali Soomro, (District Officer Education, Khairpur). Liaquat Khaskheli (DO, Elementary) and Abdul Jabbar Mari (DO Education SEMIS) also attended the inaugural ceremony along with other notables of the village.

MR. Apart from this NBP has taken major steps in the areas of risk management, information technology, operations and human resources and the bank is also fulfilling its commitment towards the community. NBP role in CSR for the different areas of social sector is remarkable for the nation.

He further said Prime Minister of Pakistan; Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif conferred Gold Medal to NBP for its contributions in Corporate Social Responsibility front. President and CEO NBP, Syed Ahmed Iqbal Ashraf received the NBP’s gold medal during the 37th FPCCI Export Trophy Awards held on February 8, 2014 at Lahore. This award is a top slot award and is given on the basis of overall NBP contributions and donations for charitable, social, educational and public welfare purposes. NBP has contributed whole heartedly in the ‘Health’ sector by supporting Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre through adoption of MALC’s Female Ward; SIUT Sukkur for free treatment of underprivileged patients; Noor Memorial Hospital Chakwal for construction of Lab and X-Ray facilities; Equipment support to various other hospitals and organizing numerous Medical and Eye camps countrywide. In ‘Education’ sector too, NBP has played a vital role by construction of various schools in the remote areas and specially the adoption of ‘The Citizen Foundation School’ at Nawabshah; sponsored students and trainees with focus on girl education. Beside these NBP has tremendously supported Sports and Culture at national level, Community Development, Disaster Relief, Women Empowerment, Infrastructure Development, Environment, Water Purification and Sanitation and Sponsoring Special Persons. This award is the highest in jurisdiction of Corporate Social Responsibility of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
