Stringfellow Memorial hires new CEO [The Anniston Star, Ala. :: ]

(Anniston Star (AL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 20--Stringfellow Memorial Hospital has a new boss.

Anniston hospital administrators announced Friday that Jay Hinesley had been hired as the facility's chief executive officer and will start work Monday.

According to a press release from Stringfellow, Hinesley brings approximately 10 years of experience to the position. Hinesley most recently served as CEO of Cherokee Medical Center, a 60-bed hospital in Centre, where he recruited physicians to the hospital's general surgery and family practice areas.

"I am honored to be able to support the skilled, compassionate healthcare providers at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital," Hinesley was quoted as saying in the release. "Because of their work, patients have come to expect quality, personalized care with every visit to this hospital." Stringfellow has been without a chief executive officer since CEO Bryan McCauley resigned in late April. McCauley was hired in October 2012 to replace then-CEO Barry Keel.

Previously, Hinesley was also assistant CEO of DeKalb Regional Medical Center, a 134-bed hospital in Fort Payne. Hinesley holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Presbyterian College South Carolina and a master's degree in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.
