Fluor Announces 10 Winners for Its $100,000 Global Community Project Fund


IRVING, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) announced that 10 community improvement projects around the globe will each receive $10,000 from Fluor's $100,000 Global Community Project Fund. In addition to the funding, the winning projects (five U.S. and five international) will each receive support from Fluor employee volunteers to complete their projects before December 31, 2014.

The 10 winning projects are:

  • Repair Classroom Damaged by Typhoon Haiyan; World Vision; Cebu, the Philippines
  • Creating a Vegetable Garden and Irrigation System; La Buena Esperanza; Lima, Peru
  • Establish a Science Lab at School for Underprivileged Children; Saksham Bal Vikas Sanstha; New Delhi, India
  • Repair Termite Damaged Infrastructure at a Foster Home for Girls; Las Creches; Santiago, Chile
  • Packing Food to Help End Hunger in South Africa; Stop Hunger Now; Woodmead, South Africa
  • Encouraging Kids to Read by Providing Age-Appropriate Books; Reading to Kids; Aliso Viejo, Calif.
  • Creating a Mobile STEM Lab; Girls Inc. of Orange (News - Alert) County; Aliso Viejo, Calif.
  • Renovating a Facility to Support Salvation Army's Men's Rehabilitation Program; Salvation Army of Greenville; Greenville, S.C.
  • Providing a Safe and Healthy Environment at Child Abuse Center; Julie Valentine Center; Greenville, S.C.
  • A New STEM Lab for At-Risk Youth; Bethel's Place; Houstn, Texas

Fluor employees from offices and project sites in more than 14 countries participated in the Global Community Project Fund, nominating 137 community improvement projects for local charitable organizations. Thirty project nominations were selected as finalists, and the 10 winners were chosen by a worldwide public vote. In total, more than 170,000 votes were cast on Fluor's website.


Nominating employees will blog about their projects progress throughout the year. At the end of the year, a best-in-class project will be selected and the benefitting charitable organization will receive an additional $10,000 to further its cause.
