Time Warner feeling heat over RoadRunner email problems [The Buffalo News, N.Y. :: ]

(Buffalo News (NY) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 14--Maybe Bill Cowher can devise a game plan to solve Time Warner Cable's RoadRunner email woes.

But even the football coach-turned-pitchman for the telecommunications giant might see this as a tough problem to tackle. Customers have had trouble accessing their RoadRunner email accounts this week, either some of the time or all of the time, and they are unloading their frustrations on Time Warner.

As complaints roll in to Time Warner's Facebook page, Twitter account and phone lines, the company is apologizing for the inconvenience and promises a cure is coming.

"Customers in multiple markets are affected but the issue is intermittent and the vast majority of our Internet customers weren't affected at all," said Scott Pryzwansky, public relations director for Time Warner. "The issue affects less than 10 percent of email users." But that is little consolation to the 10 percent who are impacted. They are frustrated about how long the problem has lasted, as well as by a lack of an explanation from the company.

Al Green of East Amherst said he could access his RoadRunner account only periodically on Tuesday and Wednesday, and not at all on Thursday and Friday. He uses his account for both personal and business purposes; the disruption prevented him from accessing electronic files he needs. Green complained to Time Warner and was promised a $20 credit for his troubles, but he plans on "going for more." "I'm shocked a company of this size can't put the resources out to fix this," Green said.

Charles Crystal of Buffalo said he noticed some minor problems with his RoadRunner email over a week ago, but those problems went away. Then, over the past few days, things got "significantly worse," and his email account worked only sporadically, he said.
