Porter County Libertarian running for state auditor [The Times, Munster, Ind. :: ](Times (Munster, IN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 11--INDIANAPOLIS -- A Porter County management consultant has been tapped to run for state auditor by the Libertarian Party of Indiana. John Schick, of Chesterton, said if he's elected the state's chief financial officer, he will strengthen audit control systems over state spending and work to limit new spending by Republicans and Democrats in the General Assembly. Schick, who earned a masters degree in business administration at Indiana University, believes his 17 years experience evaluating the market competitiveness of information technology services used at some of the world's largest corporations ideally positions him to manage Indiana's checkbook and oversee the state's transparency Web portal. A Chesterton resident for more than two decades, Schick previously ran unsuccessful campaigns for Porter County Commissioner, Porter County Council and the Indiana House. He is the second Porter County Libertarian running for statewide office this year. Technology executive Karl Tatgenhorst, who lives between Valparaiso and Portage, was selected in April as the Libertarian candidate for secretary of state. He must win at least 2 percent of the vote on Nov. 4 for Libertarians to maintain automatic ballot access.
