Cologix Welcomes OpenDNS as 750th Customer

DENVER --(Business Wire)--

Businesses are expanding their networks across North America to provide faster, more reliable service to customers. To efficiently and securely extend these networks, organizations are tapping into the numerous benefits of partnering with network-neutral colocation and interconnection providers.

Cologix, a network-neutral interconnection and data center provider, is seeing this firsthand as it partners with its 750th customer. Today, Cologix announced that OpenDNS, one of the world's leading providers of cloud-delivered security, selected Cologix's new Vancouver data center as the location to deploy a node for their global network. OpenDNS provides enterprise security soluions to globally recognized businesses. As a pioneer in security and DNS, OpenDNS bridges the gap in existing security solutions to provide security for the way the world works.

"OpenDNS has built a global network with over 50 million daily users with unprecedented uptime, performance, and security innovations that have forever changed the way businesses and consumers experience the Internet," said Dan Hubbard, chief technology officer, OpenDNS. "Deploying a node in Vancouver was an important step in supporting our expanding customer base. Cologix's new data center provides us with the connectivity and reliability we need."

OpenDNS now connects to Cologix's VAN 2 facility, the company's second network-neutral data center in the city. Opened in March 2014, the center provides 15,000 square feet of inventory, N+1 cooling and generators, and redundant UPS systems. The facility also offers connectivity to carriers on-site, carriers at 555 W. Hastings St., and direct access to the Vancouver Internet Exchange (VANIX), which was a critical buying criterion for OpenDNS.

"OpenDNS' services bridge traditional networks and cloud platforms, highlighting the importance of colocation and interconnection through a network-neutral provider," said Sean Maskell, president, Cologix Canada. "We have built our platform to offer organizations like OpenDNS the connectivity, flexibility and reliability they require, which is why we are especially happy to welcome them as our 750th customer."

Cologix network-neutral colocation centers are about giving customers a wide variety of choice - from pricing and packages to cooling requirements to space and cabinet size. More importantly, companies that colocate in network-neutral facilities have a broad choice of network service providers. Unlike centers that are aligned with a network provider, neutral providers offer direct access to many networks - some with more than 350 network service providers through Meet-Me-Rooms.
