(Island Packet (Hilton Head, SC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) May 28--Port Royal residents will get a first peek today at possible logos and advertising material the town could use in marketing the community to visitors and potential businesses and residents.
Representatives from Rawle Murdy Associates advertising agency will be at Town Hall at 3 p.m. today to present the "creative work" they have been developing, town manager Van Willis said.
In April, Rawle Murdy presented the following branding statement that the marketing materials are being focused around:
--Unique charm: Nestled deep within a sheltered natural harbor, Port Royal, S.C., is a coastal town filled with people from every walk of life. Charming storefronts, eclectic shops and funky festivals pull residents and visitors together under towering live oaks.
Willis said Wednesday's presentation is not the final recommendation from the agency, but instead an update on potential logos, letterhead and marketing and advertising materials the town could employ.
The town approved a $40,000 contract in December with Rawle Murdy to develop a brand and marketing strategy to draw tourists, businesses and residents. The firm says it's using information from three public forums, social media data, a marketing audit, comparisons with other communities, and other sources to develop a proposal.
A proposal was due by April 9 to Town Council, but company president Bruce Murdy said the surveys took more time than expected.
Willis said the delay was not a problem, because the town is currently working on its budget and can consider funding options for the project.
