Mary Davie of General Service Administration Receives John J. Franke Award from ACT-IAC


CAMBRIDGE, Md. --(Business Wire)--

Last night, the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC (News - Alert)) presented the 2014 John J. Franke Award to Mary Davie, Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Integrated Technology Services (ITS) at the General Service Administration (GSA (News - Alert)) Federal Acquisition Service. This award is bestowed annually at ACT-IAC's Management of Change (MOC) conference to recognize extraordinary, long-term contributions to the federal government.

Mary began her public service in 1989 when she joined GSA. As the ITS Assistant Commissioner, Mary is responsible for the largest fee-for-service information technology (IT) procurement and services operation in the U.S. government. Mary leads a highly skilled and diverse workforce that manages more than 7,000 contracts, providing access to relevant and timely IT and telecommunications products, services and solutions to defense and civilian agencies, as well as to state, local and tribal governments.

Prior to holding her current position, Mary served as Assistant Commissioner for Assisted Acquisition Services (AS), responsible for managing the acquisition of $3.5 billion in IT and professional services products, services and solutions for federal agencies worldwide. She has also been the Acting Assistant Commissioner for marketing and business development in AS. Mary is an active advocate of the use of Web 2.0 and social media tools to improve government acquisition. She has degrees from Virginia Tech and the University of Phoenix.

Mary Davie is also a well-respected leader within the government IT community. She has been a long-time volunteer within ACT-IAC and has held a number of leadership positions. She is a past President of ACT and currently serves as the Government Vice Chair of the 2014 Executive Leadership Conference.

John J. Franke was a long-time senior executive who was committed to the idea of a government that truly and effectively serves the public. He believed in the importance of individuals and the value of investing in their growth. He was also a strong believer in collaboration and adherence to the highest professional standards at all times. He made a difference for the people who looked to public servants for help, and for the public servants with whom he worked.


Each year the ACT Executive Committee pays tribute to Mr. Franke by recognizing a current or former government executive who exemplifies the principles for which he stood.
